The Airofit Company — then and now!

How it all started

Airofit Sport was founded in 2016 by CEO Christian Tullberg Poulsen. The device was originally developed and tested by the healthcare company Ambu, designed for medical use for patients suffering from Asthma and COPD. Ambu is a Danish worldwide company developing, producing and marketing medical equipment for hospitals and rescue services. Since Ambu does not target consumer markets, a potential to minimize distance between product and consumer was therefore an opportunity which Christian considered valuable.

Christian did not perceive the innovative potentials to end there. When he was first introduced to the product, he believed it carried great benefits to healthy individuals as well as for those desiring to improve their performance levels.

When not pursuing his duties as CEO, Christian’s hobbies include singing and conducting classical music. Convinced that Airofit would survive tests in non-medical environments and situations, he gave 30 top-flight singers at the Music Institute of Copenhagen the opportunity to exercise with it. Within 6 weeks, their performance and stamina had improved. Not only could they sing stronger for longer, many were also able to expand their vocal range. That’s when he realized its potential in the sports arena as well, and decided to purchase the patent.
